Professional Skillday Course Outline

Having achieved a Professional status in your PTR certification test you may feel you have achieved it all. But this course is designed to continue to take you forward in tennis.

We shall spend the morning session working on your core stroke teaching skills and adaptations on their development (such as extra spin, tactical variations, racket head speed techniques etc) during the afternoon we shall look at your drill feeding skills and advanced methods which may help you if you are planning on applying for the PTR Academy Pro course where we look for Pro’s with the extra edge.

The cost of this course is £10 to qualify you should either hold an professional skills rating.

Course timetable

9:00am - 9:30am	Registration
9:30am -10:00am	Warm-up Rotation - Ground strokes and volleys with a few serves too!
10:00 - 11:00am	The Perfect Forehand - What is the perfect forehand, is it Nadal’s, Federer’s or Gonzales? As a group of pro grade coaches we want you to offer ways of finding the answer to this question. We shall look at extreme grips, variations on swings and movement patterns and ways of dominating the court with your forehand to take you and your pupils to another level.
11:00 -12:00pm	Single vs double-handed backhands - What is the best? Again, use of grips and body movement and rotation will help us uncover the answers in your opinion. How can you utilise your tactics with these strokes? What benefits do these styles of players have tactically and technically?
12:00pm - 1:00pm	Volley drills - Using a variety of volley drills, service line practices and movement exercises we can make volleys more interesting and demanding. Add the drive volley to this equation and you have a forecourt to admire! It also adds variety to your teaching lessons.
1.00pm - 2.00pm	Lunch
2:00pm - 4:00pm	Tactical teaching afternoon - Bring to the court different tactics for the group to try out. Clay court play, grass court adaptation and hard court/all court play. As pro grade coaches we want you to teach as well! If you have players that play tournaments then they need this kind of feedback. We will give you tactical situations to come up with as a group. This will put you in good stead in applying for the Academy Pro course in the future. As coaches this session will give you the opportunity to work in front of your peers and think on your feet as all top coaches do!
